The cup and the saucer.

The cup and the saucer
holding hot water
on a table knee high.

Along came cat
fresh from a nap,
leaping from it's cradle.

The cat and the cup,
they ran out of luck,
causing a crash fatal.

And now the cat's
banned from the table.

Seedling

Tucked deep within loamy, moist soil a seed began to germinate.  Roots pushed out searching for sustenance.  The tiniest of seedlings wove and twisted, dancing towards the sunlight.  The sun shone down and it grew.  Summer followed spring and soon the seedling spread it's arms joyously to the light; progressing from seedling to sapling.  In that first autumn, with all it's energies, the sapling bore it's first precious fruits; small and few but full of future hope.  Winter brought the long, cold days and the sapling rested.  The days passed and the seasons chased after one another endlessly.  The sapling grew and grew; skin hardening and branches spreading.  It became a home for other forms off life and in return these sheltered lives protected it from harm.  Generations upon generation lived in roots, on it's bark, in it's branches; strengthening it as grew old, surrounded by it's children.  The last sigh was that of happiness; knowing it had lived it's time to the full.

You know what they say about other people's trash.

'Trash' or 'Treasure'?

The things people throw away do amaze me some days.  I was shuffling home, at roughly 2:30am, when I past a pile of furniture, reusable shopping bags and coat hangers. Out of curiosity, I stopped to have a poke through, as you do.  Amongst the debris of this years spring clean I found a beautiful, wooden jewellery box the colour of old oak.  As I tested the draws, expecting rot or wreckage, I noticed something even better.  The jewellery box was fitted with a Sankyo hand wound steel music device.  Okay, so the varnish is blemished and one draw is missing a handle, once i heard the tune it played I couldn't resist nabbing and waltzing off with it!  It is a beautiful piece.  Now, I'm struggling to name the tune!
